Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Congress Candidates Second List May Release Today as CEC Meeting in the Evening


CEC Meeting: Lok Sabha Elections The second list of Congress candidates preparing for 2024 is expected to come on Monday (March 11). The second meeting of the Central Election Committee of the Congress Party is going to be held today at the headquarters of All India Congress Committee in Delhi.

News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that this meeting will be held at 6 pm under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in which Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and MP Rahul Gandhi will also attend this meeting. In this meeting, Lok Sabha seats of Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh will be discussed. According to sources, in this meeting the names of the leaders who left Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined Congress will also be discussed.

Congress had released the first list on March 8.

Earlier on Friday (08 March), Congress had released the first list of 39 Lok Sabha seats which included states like Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Telangana and Tripura. Among the 39 candidates to whom Congress has given tickets, 16 are from Kerala, 7 from Karnataka, 6 from Chhattisgarh, 4 from Telangana, 2 from Meghalaya and one candidate each from Tripura, Sikkim and Meghalaya.

Names of these veterans in the first list

Congress had included stalwarts like Rahul Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, Bhupesh Baghel, KC Venugopal, DK Suresh, brother of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in the first list. According to sources, along with Priyanka Gandhi, Imran Masood, Supriya Shrinet, Rahul Gandhi’s name from Amethi may be in the second list.

24 out of 39 SC, ST and OBC

Addressing the press conference, Congress leader KC Venugopal had said, “Of the 39 candidates the party has selected, 24 are from SC, ST, OBC and minorities and 15 are from the general category.” At the same time, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also released its first list of 195 candidates and the second list of the ruling party may also be revealed in the next few days.
